Switzerland continues to outperform as the world’s most innovative country for the 9th consecutive year, according to the Global Innovation Index 2019, which evaluates 130 Countries Worldwide (Key Findings 2019 Report, globalinnovationindex.org). It shows Switzerland as the Country with highest ratio between inputs and outputs from innovation.
Other key findings: the geography of innovation itself continues its shifting into the middle-income economies, although actual inputs and outputs remain traditionally concentrated in very few economies and this global divide will persist. In the current environment of economic slowdown and low productivity growth, the innovation is blossoming around the world - as measured in R&D expenditure, patents and non-direct indications.
